It can be an excellent do-it-yourself project for you and your children. You can make a tree house for your children; they will certainly enjoy it. There are different types of tree houses, which varies in structures, facilities, and materials. You can design your own tree house according to the materials available to you. When you will plan to build a tree house, you should make it securely. Before using the tree house, be sure that it could bear the load of the users.

Step 1 – Draw the design
At the beginning of the building process, it will be better if you draw the design of the house. Take pencil and paper and draw the basic structure. Try to utilize the available and perfectly strong materials to build the house. For perfect look, try to maintain the aspect ratio as accurately as you can. You should also remember that you may have to get some kind of permission to build the tree house, for this, you should check the rules of your state.
Step 2 – Choose the tree or trees
You have to choose a large and strong tree to build the tree house. The tree should be capable to bear the load. You can also use separate logs or pillars to support the house. Try to avoid cutting branches and think about the growth of the tree. The growth of the tree should not be hampered for the tree house.
Step 3 – Build the things on the ground as much as you can
Try to design the tree house in such a way that different parts can be made separately and then can be attached together to form the house. This will make the task easier, and safer. After making the parts separately, pull them up and join together.
Step 4 – Position the frame board
Now position the frame board and then brace it. You should set the frame at a reasonable height of the tree. Determine the position of the supporting posts, if extra support is needed. Then mark the place where you will make the holes to set the posts. Then dig the holes and set the posts, 4 by 4 posts are good for this purpose. To secure the posts, use quick dry concrete. While joining the pieces of timbers with one another, use bolts and nuts, or nails and hammer, or screws and screwdriver as you need and best fit the purpose.
Step 5 – Complete the frame and attach to the posts
Now complete the frame by joining necessary pieces of timber. Then attach the frame to the posts and to the branches of tree. Use joints of the branches of tree to hold the frame. Avoid unnecessary screwing or bolting in the tree to allow the growth of the tree.
Step 6 - Make the ladders
After completing the above steps, make the ladders to climb up the house. For ladders, you can use 2 by 4 timber pieces. Create the ladders with sufficient number of steps.
Step 7 – Now make the walls
Now make the walls of the tree house. For this, you will need to frame the walls first, and then you will have to attach the planks there.
Step 8 – Set the roof top if necessary
Now you can set a roof top if you want or you can leave it blank. Then set the ladders in position. Now your tree house is all set. Sand it before applying paint on it. Then use your selected paints to paint the house and let it dry. Now your tree house is ready.
